NCCOR at ALR 2018
February 8, 2018
NCCOR is heading to Banff, Canada, for the Active Living Research (ALR) Annual Conference on February 11–14, 2018. NCCOR joins professionals from around the world to share their latest research and innovations related to physical activity and active communities.
NCCOR is excited to host a workshop on Sunday, February 11, at 1:30 p.m. MT. NCCOR members Rachel Ballard, MD, MPH, Office of Disease Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and David Berrigan, PhD, MPH, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, will present on the Measures Registry User Guides alongside James Sallis, PhD, and Greg Welk, PhD, authors of the Physical Activity User Guides. The workshop will walk participants through the Guides’ case study examples and discuss how to use the Guides for addressing research questions.
NCCOR will also have an exhibit booth in the KC100 Galleria of the Kinnear Centre Building on the first floor. We’ll be there throughout the conference, sharing resources including the Youth Compendium of Physical Activity, Measures Registry User Guides, Measures Registry, and Catalogue of Surveillance Systems. Please follow us on Twitter and Facebook (@NCCOR) and use the hashtag #ALRConference to stay connected!
The Measures Registry User Guides, funded through a strategic alliance partnership with The JPB Foundation and published in February 2017, focus on four core areas of childhood obesity research: individual diet, food environment, individual physical activity, and physical activity environment. The User Guides provide an overview of measurement, describe general principles of measurement selection, and present case studies that highlight the process of using the Measures Registry to select appropriate measures. The User Guides make an important contribution to the fields of physical activity and nutrition research and practice by promoting more consistent use of measures, which will allow for greater standardization and synthesis among domains.
We look forward to meeting you at the ALR Annual Conference!
