Call for Proposals: Policies for Action

Purpose: Racism plays a significant role in the American landscape, impacting policies and practices that shape virtually every aspect of life, opportunity, and well-being. As the country grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic and a reckoning with continued anti-Black violence, decision makers at all levels will need a renewed focus on public policy and its impacts on historically marginalized groups.

Policies for Action is issuing a call for proposals to build the evidence base exploring how national, state, and local policies can help advance racial equity and justice in the United States.

We are particularly interested in understanding how, and how well such policies work to address racial disparities in health and well-being.

Receipt Date:
  1. Letters of intent are due November 24, 2020 3:00 p.m. ET.
  2. Candidates selected to submit a full proposal will be notified by mid-February.
  3. Full proposals from selected candidates will be accepted through April 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Total Awards: Approximately $2 million will be awarded through this CFP. While there is not an explicit range for allowable budget requests for this funding opportunity, P4A grants are typically funded at $250,000 each for up to 24 months.
Eligibility: Eligible applicant organizations include academic institutions; public entities; private nonprofit organizations; state and local government agencies; and for-profit organizations. Applicants also may represent partnerships between service providers or practitioners and researchers.

We strongly encourage applications that include researchers who are from groups that are underrepresented in policy research and/or who are affiliated with institutions that serve underrepresented groups.
