2014 ALR conference call for proposals

Active Living Research (ALR) invites abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 2014 Annual Conference on March 9-12 in San Diego, Calif. The theme of the 2014 conference, “Niche to Norm,” recognizes the importance of advancing active living from an emerging research field with limited results and impact to well-accepted findings that regularly guide decision-making across sectors to create more active communities.

Call for abstracts in research and practice/policy focus areas

Our aim is to make the ALR conference the premier venue for both cutting-edge research and for making findings accessible to and useable by non-scientists. Thus, the 2014 conference agenda will include both research and practice/policy presentations.

Abstracts related to all populations and active living environments and policies in all settings are welcome. We particularly encourage abstracts related to the conference theme and abstracts on research and practice/policies that inform strategies for increasing physical activity among racially and ethnically diverse populations of youth and those living in lower-income communities who are at greatest risk for obesity.

Call for workshops

We seek high quality workshops for researchers (e.g. methods, statistics) and practitioners (e.g., use of measures or tools, dissemination, translation or scalability of findings to inform policy and practice). These sessions must be interactive and have clear learning objectives. Workshops can be proposed for either 1.5 or 3-hour formats.

The submission deadline for presentation abstracts and workshops is Sept. 4, 2013, 4 p.m. Pacific Time. Notifications will be sent out in late October.
