Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) will release their ninth annual “F as in Fat” report next week. There will be a Hill briefing for congressional staff and other interested parties on Mon., Sept. 24, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. to highlight key findings of “F as in Fat: How Obesity Threatens America’s Future.”
The briefing also will explore the stark contrast between “Two Futures for America’s Health,” a new analysis included in this year’s report. The analysis predicts what will happen to obesity rates, related diseases, and health care costs in every state if the epidemic continues to increase at its current pace versus what those statistics would look like if we were to succeed in reducing Americans’ body mass indices by just 5 percent by 2030.
The event will be held at the United States Capitol Visitor Center. A light breakfast and refreshments will be provided.
Speakers will spotlight what works to prevent obesity, where progress is being made around the country, and what all of us can do to reverse the epidemic and put our country on a path to better physical and fiscal health.
