The Institute of Medicine (IOM) Roundtable on Obesity Solutions is inviting the public to attend its first workshop, “The Current State of Obesity Solutions in the United States.”

The workshop will present a status update on the current epidemiology of obesity and explore the prevalence, trends, severity, and disparities across the United States. Workshop presenters will discuss key settings where change is happening, focusing on nutrition, physical activity, the elimination of health disparities, and next steps.
The presenters will provide their top priorities for driving change and progress in the obesity epidemic. Speakers include:
- Bill Dietz, former Director of the Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- Debbie Chang, Vice President of Policy and Prevention, Nemours
- Sarah Lee, Health Scientist, CDC
- Don Bradley, Chief Medical Officer, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina
- Leon Andrews, Senior Fellow, National League of Cities
- Cheryl Bartlett, Commissioner of Massachusetts Department of Public Health
- Howard Koh, Assistant Secretary for Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
- Kevin Concannon, Undersecretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture
- Lisa Gable, President, Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation
