Sharing NCCOR’s successes at 2012 Weight of the Nation™ Conference

The National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) will be hosting a number of events at this year’s Weight of the Nation™ conference to share and promote the Collaborative’s successful efforts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of childhood obesity research.

NCCOR promotion efforts at the conference will include:

  • A reception featuring a panel presentation on the Collaborative’s goals and successes. The reception will also provide participants an opportunity to ask questions of NCCOR members and network with fellow researchers, scientists, policy makers, and other conference attendees. May 7, 5-6:30 p.m., Blue Room
  • A panel talk with NCCOR Steering Committee member, Tracy Orleans (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation) focused on the value of partnering and forming networks, featuring NCCOR, the Nutrition and Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (NOPREN), and the Physical Activity Policy Research Network (PAPRN), May 9, 8-9:15 a.m., Empire Room
  • The debut of the NCCOR conference booth. The booth will feature key reports, some giveaways, and other information highlighting NCCOR’s mission, projects, and successes. Visitors to the booth will also be able to explore the Collaborative’s online tools.
  • An invitation-only leadership meeting for the senior leaders from NCCOR’s funding organizations. The meeting will focus on NCCOR’s activities, accomplishments, and future directions.

Weight of the Nation: Moving Forward, Reversing the Trend will take place on May 7-9, 2012, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. The conference, hosted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is designed to provide a forum to highlight progress in the prevention and control of obesity through policy and environmental strategies.
