The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2014 funds to implement DP14-1416—Programs to Reduce Obesity in High Obesity Areas. Approximately $4.7 million per year is available to fund up to 6 Land Grant Colleges and Universities located in states with counties with an adult obesity prevalence of over 40 percent based on estimates from the 2012 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data. Eligibility: | This pilot project covers populations in counties with over 40 percent adult obesity rates. Land grant institutions in these states are eligible to apply. To reach the maximum number of eligible counties, no more than one land grant institution from an eligible state will receive funding. The requested award amount should align with the number of counties targeted. Final award amounts will reflect the number of counties to be served. This announcement is only for non-research domestic activities supported by CDC. If research is proposed, the application will not be considered.
