Purpose: The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has released a new funding opportunity to establish four regional nutrition education and obesity prevention research centers and one coordinating center. This RFA is designed to bring together the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and SNAP-Ed nutrition education and childhood obesity programming and research interests. Also, although only one institution/organization per NIFA administrative geographic region will be funded, there is an expectation that other agencies and organizations will also be involved through subcontracts and other means, since part of the intent of this new funding opportunity is to facilitate program and research cooperation and collaboration through these regional research centers.
Receipt Date: Aug. 15, 2014
Total Awards: $4,000,000 (total program funding)
