A new webinar from Kaiser Permanente and the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation highlights the ways grantmakers in health, sustainable agriculture, and related fields can help spread the word about “The Weight of the Nation,” a national campaign aimed at combating obesity.
“The Weight of the Nation” is a comprehensive public awareness campaign designed to accelerate efforts to prevent and eliminate obesity across the United States. The campaign centerpiece is a four-part film series scheduled to air on HBO May 14-15. Each film examines the obesity epidemic from a unique point of view, from “Consequences” and “Choices,” to “Children in Crisis” and “Challenges.”
Funders, grantmakers, and other interested health organizations can help amplify the campaign’s message by:
- Endorsing the campaign through Facebook and Twitter
- Using the national focus of the campaign to accelerate local agendas and the work of grantees
- Issuing media releases that point to local solutions and grantee success stories
- Hosting a screening
- Ensuring grantees and local partners are on CommunityCommons.org
The webinar also includes a potential format for hosting a screening event.
